What does your landscaping supply business do?
Interlink are supplier of recycled timber sleepers – including NZ Railway Sleepers, Australian Hardwood Sleepers and US Oak Sleepers – for use by landscapers and gardeners throughout New Zealand.
What’s one of your favourite products?
Recycled Australian Hardwood Sleepers A Grade. These are generally four square sides, weathered and rustic, and include a mixture of woods such as Jarah and Ironbark. They are chemical free and naturally durable. Ideal for steps and prominent feature areas such as water features.
Why do you think your customers like this product so much?
Railway sleepers are an amazing feature in anyone’s garden or house! So if you’re looking for a natural or rustic look, make sure you check out our product range. Railway sleepers are also a very durable material that will last in your garden, landscape, or home for centuries.
Can you give us a brief history of your business and the growth it has experienced so far?
In 2009, Matthew Kennedy, our General Manager and owner, was inspired to create a business that ‘interlinked’ a customer with a solution. He saw a gap in the market to supply natural landscape products directly to the customer. Interlink are now a premier supplier of high quality hardwood materials for landscaping in New Zealand. We trade over the phone or through email, thus minimizing costs. These savings are then passed on to our customers.
Interlink are wholesalers to the landscaping, landscape design, architectural and general garden maintenance markets. Our office is based in beautiful Wanaka, and we have storage depots nationally. We deliver our products through an array of major freight companies.

Is there something you are particularly excited for your business right now?
Interlink has been bringing you recycled products for nearly 10 years, dating back to when the grassroots ‘green building’ revolution started. Now 10 years later, sustainable and eco-friendly buildings are being developed all over the country. As climate change, inefficient energy use and human land use is increasingly having a detrimental impact on our natural ecosystems. There exists a responsibility for individuals and industries to start making a conscious change. This change is towards a more resourceful and sustainable society and planet. Consumers are becoming increasingly aware of the impact that industries are having on our environment.
Interlink, along with all others involved in the ‘green building revolution’ are doing their part to minimise this. We believe in the reduce, reuse, recycle ideology, and take pride in our commitment to recycling beautiful and durable hardwoods. As a supplier to hardware stores all over the country we are providing a more eco-conscious option nationwide. - We are members of the Living Future Institute; we support the innovation of this great institute
