Five years ago, Neil Thomson, owner and director of BCE Catering Equipment, took over the company. Neil and his team are dedicated to bringing new and innovative products to the market to showcase food from cafes and restaurants. BCE Catering Equipment have various sales channels. Aside from an online channel, a sales team sell directly by showcasing their products at restaurants and cafes.

Moving to the cloud

Cloud-based software provides so many benefits to a company compared to more traditional methods of inventory management and manufacturing control, and these apply to both the company and the customer.

Prior to using Unleashed, BCE Catering Equipment was using a clunky platform to manage both their accounting and inventory needs. Neil wanted to move to a cloud-based inventory management system. At that time, they were looking at accounting software such as Xero, and found that Unleashed was the best fit for their company.

Maintaining accurate inventory costs

With Unleashed, BCE Catering Equipment have found that the biggest benefit is the landed cost feature; any product that comes in from overseas or domestically now has a landed cost attributed to it. “Freight being a huge cost for our business, it was very important to get the landed cost correct,” explains Neil.
Now, freight is not costing more than what they are charging clients. Neil says, “We’re working on a true cost basis.”

Unleashed is a cloud-based software, meaning that it can be accessed from anywhere with an Internet connection, allowing them to work from anywhere. Neil says, “ I can tap into an online facility and get up to date information.”

An important Unleashed feature for Neil and his team is the Unleashed Sales App. “Our salesmen can be live in the field, and instead of having to go into a website they can access what’s in stock through the app,” explains Neil.

With Unleashed’s cloud-based inventory benefits, BCE Catering Equipment can work on a true cost basis, allowing them to maintain complete inventory management accuracy.
